term 1 - EXPLORE AND DISCOVER
In Explore and Discover, children develop curiosity about the natural world. They investigate plants, animals, weather and materials through hands-on science activities and outdoor learning. Children learn to observe carefully, describe what they notice and understand how living things change and grow.
Key Learning Areas:
- The Natural World – Exploring plants, animals, weather and the environment through outdoor learning.
- Scientific Investigation – Observing, predicting, testing and talking about what we notice.
- Growth & Change – Learning how plants, animals and people grow and change.
- Care for Our World – Understanding how to look after living things and our environment.
Term 2 - PEOPLE WHO HELP US
People Who Help Us helps children learn about important members of the community such as doctors, firefighters and police officers. Children explore different jobs, talk about safety and understand how people help keep us healthy and safe. Role play, visits and storytelling help children develop empathy and respect for others.
Key Learning Areas:
- Community Helpers – Learning about different jobs and people who help us in our community.
- Keeping Safe – Understanding how people help keep us safe, healthy and well.
- Empathy & Respect – Developing appreciation and respect for others and the work they do.
- Role Play & Language – Exploring different occupations through talking, dressing up and role play.
