This term, Year 5 will be reading the Vehicle Text: FArTHER by Grahame Baker-Smith. Our focus will be on composing detailed setting and character descriptions, which will serve as our final pieces. Students will employ the key grammar and writing techniques covered so far. Once we have completed these pieces, we will be enhancing our formal writing skills as we prepare to draft formal letters so watch this space!

Along the way, we’ll discuss the threats these incredible ecosystems face, weigh up the perks and challenges of living in such an arid environment, and compare land use between two contrasting biomes. Finally, we’ll debate whether desert conditions are welcoming or not. Let’s embark on this thrilling adventure into the heart of the desert!
