Saplings community trips 2025-2026
Saplings 1 weekly Tesco trips
On Tuesday 28th April, the children in Saplings 1 started their weekly walks to the local Tesco store. Each week the children either purchase an item their parents have requested and sent in money for or purchase something for a member of staff that they have given money for. The children enjoy searching and paying for their items as well as taking it in turns to hold the basket.

Roxeth Library
On Tuesday 14th April, Saplings 1 and 2 went to Roxeth library. The children travelled on the 114 bus and had an interesting time in the library with two very helpful librarians. During their visit, the children;
-Were given a talk about libraries and what they can offer the children.
-Took part in a scavenger hunt, looking for books that had pictures shown on their worksheets.
-Made sensory bottle shakers.
After our visit to Roxeth library, we then walked to Roxeth recreational park and had a snack sitting on the grass.

Eastcote Memorial and Picnic Café
To commemorate 'Remembrance day', Saplings 1 and 2 visited the war memorial monument in Eastcote on Tuesday 18th November. On the way to the memorial, we enjoyed seeing all the signs of Christmas and particularly liked the moving display in the Agate glass shop window. The lady told us all about her collection and how long she had been putting it together.
At the memorial we looked at all the wreaths that had been laid and read out some names of those who lost their lives in the war.
Afterwards, we had our lunch in the Picnic café. The staff were very helpful, and we all got given free drinks! We all enjoyed our food and said we would definitely go back and visit again.

Eastcote House Gardens
On Tuesday 30th September, Saplings 1 and 2 went to Eastcote House Gardens. We travelled on the 282 bus and, whilst in the gardens, enjoyed trying to float plastic frogs on lily pads in the River Pinn and then catching them in nets. This activity was linked to our 'Book Week' at school, where the story 'Tuesday' by David Weisner, had frogs lifting off on lily pads.
The weather was amazing, and we were able to eat our lunch in the walled garden.
